Bayelsans are voting in Southern Ijaw LGA to decide who leads Bayelsa State for the next four years between Seriake Dickson and Timipre Sylva.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) set today, Saturday January 9, 2016, for the rerun of the gubernatorial elections to decide the fate of the leader of Bayelsa state in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area. The local government has about 120,000 voters.
The election first casted on December 5, 2015 was declared inconclusive. In the first round of the elections, the incumbent governor of the state, Seriake Dickson of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leads his closest contender, All Progressives Congress’ (APC) Timipre Sylva, the immediate past governor, with over 30,000 votes.
