What has Bello not done?

Kogi people are an ungrateful lot
They go about seeking physical
Manifestations of Bello‘s administration
As if the signs are not everywhere for them to see
Even if their eyes have never known sight.

Have they not heard of the white elephant
Calmly resting in Attah’s backyard?
Why should anyone have shoes
If Attah walks barefooted?
Although the confusion now is
What is to be done with an elephant that refuses
To walk through bush paths but seeks inexistent asphalts
(That Bello flagged off but never made manifest)?

We still take solace in the fact that an elephant
Calmly rests in our father’s backyard.
Oh, if only iron elephants can fill hollow stomachs!

You ask me what Bello has done
As if you do not see the healthy figures of civil servants.
How long must we continue to feed civil servants fat,
Install calabashes in their stomach?
Visit government offices and all you’d see then
Were toothpick legs supporting bloated stomachs.
Bello eradicated this nonsense
Yes, he cut them to size by denying them their salaries!
Now, they look the shape of admirable Olympic athletes
Do you still ask for what Bello has done?

Was it not Bello who saw that we had a case of overpopulation
And sort to reduce our numbers
By paying thugs to shoot at us indiscriminately
While using police to incarcerate those that criticise him?
He deposited our bailout funds in his personal vaults
To prevent lavish spending;
Let’s not mention the fact that he got himself
A towering and sprawling mansion in Okene.
He brought forth a new direction
Whose only pathway is decorated with doom
Here is a digital government donning the shroud of cannibalism.
Yet, you insist Bello has done nothing.

Do you still ask for what Bello has done?
You should be wary of speaking ill
Of a president’s beloved and adopted son
Least you end up like Sowore.
So, let me ask you instead
What has Bello not done?
